A Glendronach 1974 18-year-old from 1992, back in simpler times when the distillery was thought of by most people as a Speyside. These extraordinary Glendronachs were nowhere near as high-profile as the Macallan 18-year-olds from the same era but the whisky is every bit the equal and many consider the Glendronachs to be superior to the contemporary Macallans.
An earthy, rich, fruity and savoury old sherried whisky, from real sherry casks – a disappeared style with an extraordinary depth for the strength and a complexity which is just totally seductive. These magnificent bottlings are now finally being given the recognition they have long deserved.
