There’s few surer bets in whisky today than a youngish Caol Ila – we’ve seen a string of bottlings from Islay’s most underrated distillery lately, all from 2009-2011 vintages, and they’ve all been terrific.
Signatory have weighed in with this three-cask batch of 2011 Caol Ila, assembled from decharred/recharred hogsheads and bottled as a 9-year-old at 46% for the Signatory Vintage Un-Chillfiltered Collection, which itself has long been a bastion of great value small batch single malts. In short, Signatory + Caol Ila = a no-brainer for real whisky fans.
