This 12-year-old Aberlour has been matured in two cask types. Traditional American oak and sherry oak casks are specially selected every year. They are filled with whisky and quietly aged for a minimum of 12 years, then the casks are married together.

Aberlour’s practice of maturing its spirit separately then marrying the mature casks together before bottling is a much more old-school and dependable process than many of the more ‘modern’ techniques carried out by other distillers these days. You just have to taste the bottlings to see how it shows.
