This 2005 Allt-A-Bhainne 17-year-old was finished in a virgin oak cask 805182, yielding 266 bottles at a very hefty natural cask strength of 60.1%. Allt-A-Bhainne is one of Chivas Brothers’ quietest Speyside workhorse distilleries and official bottlings are few and far between, so it’s always great to encounter a full strength single cask like this in the wild.

Colour: Golden amber.
Nose: Toasted oak and marzipan. Freshly baked blueberry muffins and digestive biscuits.
Pallate: Rich and intense with great viscosity. Molten Demerara sugars, allspice and star anise. Brandy snaps drizzled with honey.
