A 13-year-old Blair Athol by Darkness, the Atom Brands indie bottling offshoot that specialises in sherry finishes from tiny hand-coopered ‘octave’ casks.
This Blair Athol 13-year-old is one of a pair of releases from the distillery in Darkness’s early 2023 outturn, and like its 15-year-old sister bottling it came from a micro batch of Oloroso sherry octaves. This 13-year-old is limited to just over 100 half litre (50cl) bottles at a great drinking strength of 51.4%.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: Shortbread, chocolate and almond brittle.
Palate: Charred pineapple, burnt sugar, butterscotch lifted with fresh fruits.
Finish: Fruitiness continues into more synthetic jelly bean fruits, mellowing in oaky spice.
