This is one of the more exciting high end premium releases we’ve seen here at Whisky Online for a long time. This Glenfarclas has been drawn from one of the last remaining 1953 casks still at the distillery.
These casks have already garnered a reputation as being utterly stellar. This one, earmarked by the distillery for their first ever 60 year old, is no doubt the finest of all these casks.

Distilled in a time when Glenfarclas was still using 100% old style production methods. Floor malting, higher peating levels, much longer fermentations using lighter yeast strains, direct firing, worm tubs and a sublime quality of sherry cask, the likes of which is pretty much extinct today.

This sort of bottling really defines once in a lifetime drinking experience. Whether Glenfarclas are able or willing to offer further releases of their whisky at 60 years of age in future, this will no doubt remain a landmark bottling for this distillery, not only for the age and stunning presentation but simply for the quite unparalleled quality. A real masterpiece of whisky production, cask management, selection and bottling. A whisky for the ages.
