Ilegal’s Joven mezcal is made in Oaxaca with the Espadin agave variety, which is slow-roasted over mesquite and eucalyptus charcoal in a traditional earth pit oven for just under a week before being crushed and fermented by wild indigenous yeasts and distilled on copper alembic stills.
Joven just means young, making this the mezcal equivalent of a blanco or silver tequila: bottled without ageing. Consequently, you get the full-on, earthy, smoky agave intensity of flavour in Ilegal Joven mezcal – a real eye-opener if you’ve never tried a proper mezcal before. Tequila it ain’t.

Tasting Notes
Full bodied agave flavor. Light smoke, lingering heat. Ideal for cocktails or perfect on its own.
Eucalyptus and mineral aromas compliment hints of green apple, fresh citrus, and red chiltepe.
