A litre bottle of Longmorn 15-year-old Speyside single malt whisky, a much-loved dram among whisky fans in its 1990s heyday, when it was a bit of a hidden secret among whisky cognoscenti as one of the best Speyside malts on the market.

The original Longmorn 15-year-old was introduced during the distillery’s stewardship by Seagram in the 1980s; this higher strength edition appeared to replace the old tall bottle / cream label versions at some point in the 1990s. Sadly, Longmorn 15-year-old was discontinued in 2007 by new owners Pernod Ricard, who replaced it with the slightly older, notably more expensive and not-as-good-quality Longmorn 16-year-old, which met with the inevitable chagrin and general disapprobation of the masses.

These old Longmorn 15-year-olds were bottled at an exuberant 45% and were sturdy but approachable whiskies showing surprisingly sophisticated and delicious layers of fruit and spices not usually associated with entry-level drams. A whisky that was well-known for its popularity with industry professionals as well as the general public.
