An old bottle of Macallan 1972 18-year-old Speyside single malt whisky released around the turn of the 1990s, truly the most blessed time to be a Macallan fan, or just a single malt whisky fan in general.
These old vintage 18-year-old Macallans distilled in the late 1960s and early 1970s were matured in Oloroso sherry casks of a quality that has been unsurpassed ever since, and all of the early 1970s vintages are particularly great whiskies – very complex, fruity and leathery with strong tobacco and hazelnut notes.
