An old 2021 edition of Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength Rye, a single barrel Kentucky Straight rye whiskey from the admirable Michter’s, whose whiskey, due to climate conditions in their warehouses, increases in strength during ageing.
As the name implies, these Michter’s US*1 Barrel Strength single cask Rye whiskies are bottled at their individual cask strength, and this one – the snappily-titled L21B469 – has come out at a tempting 53.9%, strong enough to give plenty of flavour intensity without the alcohol overpowering the palate. These traditional style barrel strength ryes are highly sought after.
