This 24-year-old Oban 1989 came from single cask 748, a first fill bourbon cask that was bottled without colouring or chill filtration and yielded 248 bottles at a natural cask strength of 47.8%, which seems like an ideal drinking strength. Independent bottlings of Oban are rarer than hen’s teeth and this one should be a terrific dram.
