A small batch ‘Old School’ 45-year-old mystery single malt whisky bottled in 2024 at full strength without colouring or chill filtration by Signatory Vintage. This is a batch of just 860 bottles from a small batch of second fill Oloroso sherry butts, and has been bottled at its natural strength of 43.3%.
This mystery 45-year-old Old School single malt is Batch 2 of the Old School series from Signatory, after a 31-year-old blended malt that appeared earlier in 2024, and has been subtitled the ‘Tropical Fruit Edition’.
So, is it Bowmore, then? Or Benriach? Could be either, could be neither, and as ever Signatory are playing their cards very close to the chest, releasing this one without so much as an indication of region. Whichever distillery this is from, though, it certainly looks like a bargain from here.
