This Glen Ord was matured in an ex-American bourbon barrel and has a distinct and inevitable vanilla footprint from the cask but still manages to retain much of its distillery character, no doubt due to the robust nature of the distillate.
As usual with Glen Ord, this is a pretty big and beautiful style of whisky. Surprisingly old style in nature with big notes of wet grains, light smoke and wax. Why don’t they do more with this great distillate?
