A bottle of the magnificent Talisker 30-year-old bottled at full strength for Diageo’s Special Releases in 2009. This whisky was a small batch edition of 3000 bottles released at its natural cask strength of 53.1%.

This was the penultimate cask strength edition of Talisker 30-year-old, which was reduced to 45.8% from 2011 to bring it in line with the rest of Talisker’s core range – a shame in some ways, as these wonderful old full strength 30-year-old Taliskers from the glory days of the Special Releases have never been bettered. A masterpiece of complexity with an oily texture carrying dizzying layers of sweet fruit, spicy oak, balanced peatsmoke and phenomenal power and intensity.
