An old bottling of Macallan 30-year-old from the late 1990s in the classic blue wooden presentation box. There were some incredible casks going into these 30-year-old Macallan batches back then – all 100% sherry casks filled in the 1960s, of course, and many of them would have been well over the minimum 30 years old.
As with all of these old classics, naturally these 1990s 30-year-old Macallan sherry editions are getting harder and harder to find with each passing year. These short-lived blue wooden box 30-year-olds are particularly rare these days.
Everything for the serious old school Macallan lover is here: dark, stewed fruits, clean, resinous, earthy sherry, notes of aged cognac and sticky toffee pudding. A totally stunning and profoundly luxurious old Macallan whisky of a style that no-one seems able to recreate nowadays.
