A single cask of Balmenach’s 2011 vintage, bottled in 2023 as a 12-year-old without colouring or chill filtration by our fancy-trousered friends at Berry Bros & Rudd.
This 12-year-old Balmenach 2011 came from a single hogshead cask that yielded 288 bottles at a sturdy natural strength of 54.4%. Balmenach is one of owner Diageo’s most obscure distilleries and is one of only a handful of distilleries still using worm tub condensers, so it’s a pleasure to see a full strength indie bottling from a relatively inert cask, treating us to the full unfettered force of Balmenach’s robust, chewy, beefy spirit in its natural state.

Official Tasting Notes
Nose: At first sniff, zesty and grassy notes rise out the glass followed by vibrant green fruits and orange.
Palate: The palate is wonderfully citrusy, with tangy Granny Smith apples and a pleasing dollop of spirit sulphur.
Finish: The finish brings grilled lime, barley sweets and a touch of hay. This is a thoroughly pleasing, distillate driven dram.
