Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries is a Japanese blended malt whisky from Ichiro Akuto, founder and master distiller at the amazing Chichibu distillery in Japan.
There have been several editions of Double Distilleries, but they all include Chichibu spirit in the assemblage. This version with the green label is usually a mix of Ichiro Akuto’s Chichibu with some of the last remaining whisky from his grandfather’s Hanyu distillery, though naturally the proportion of Hanyu is pretty small.
The whiskies for this bottling were matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks and bottled at a sturdy but approachable 46.5% without colouring or chill filtration. An elegant dram that makes a great introduction to Japanese whisky.
