The fifth release in the Teeling Sommelier Selection series reached us early in 2023 and has been bottled at 46% after a finishing period in red wine casks from the Douro region of Portugal. The vines used for this wine are over 25 years old, making their grapes particularly small and richly flavoured.
The Sommelier Selection explores the effects of different wine cask finishes on the company’s much loved Small Batch whiskey – previous editions have included whiskey finished in Amarone, Recioto, Sauternes and Margaux wine casks.

Nose: Plum, blackberry and dates with a hint of spice.
Taste: Black pepper and oak tannins balanced with sour cherries and rich dark fruits.
Finish: Long finish with dry tannins and warming spice.
