An old bottle of Macallan 1972 18-year-old Speyside single malt whisky released around the turn of the 1990s, truly the most blessed time to be a Macallan fan, or just a single malt whisky fan in general. This is the 75cl version bottled for the brand’s sole US importer at the time, Premiere Wine Merchants, Inc, New York.
These old vintage 18-year-old Macallans distilled in the late 1960s and early 1970s were matured in Oloroso sherry casks of a quality that has been unsurpassed ever since, and all of the early 1970s vintages are particularly great whiskies – very complex, fruity and leathery with strong tobacco and hazelnut notes.
