A bottle of the superb Clynelish 1974 23-year-old bottled for the old Rare Malts Editions in 1998 at its hefty natural cask strength of 59.1%.

Although understandably overshadowed by the stunning 1972 vintage releases in this series, the 1974 Clynelish is a wonderful whisky in its own right, with a gentle thread of smoke running through sweet, waxy, orchard and citrus fruit to herbal, tweedy, minerally Highland flavours. 1974 is a very rare vintage from the distillery – this was the sole official bottling and only a handful of other 1974 vintages have been released from independent bottlers.
